Christmas Letter 2008

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Is it just me, or was All Hallows Eve last week and Thanksgiving yesterday?

This year was full of activity and there were so many you just get the ones I can remember in the time it takes to read this note or fill a page whichever comes first.

Perhaps most the most important event of the year, we went to Cursillo this summer and became aware of an entirely new set of brothers and sisters in Christ.   It increased our attention to items religious, and we would be happy to tell you about it.

A family trip to St. Martin, the first week of August; we find the children enjoy themselves more when they bring a friend along and it worked again this year.  A week on a private beach with nothing to do but enjoy.  We highly recommend it.

Bryce continues to support the security team that protects the Department of Energy in Germantown MD.  Reese is, we believe, within days of becoming a member of the Humana Information Technology Staff here in Tampa.  Both generally healthy and happy, Bryce is still mending from a shoulder injury over the summer, and tells us he is using the Wii to recover his strength.

Speaking of Wii, we now enjoy a variety of new games including tight rope walking, and hula hoop and Yoga to add to the bowling and fitness tests.

Pat added yet another hospital to her area of responsibility in addition to handling communications for Holy Innocents’ and the first Annual Whistle Stop Craft Show and Bake sale.  It went great and everybody said the coordinator made it happen.  A new website hiepiscopal.org was established too.

We upgraded Pat’s bike from the Wal-Mart special and biked over 200 miles this year, sometimes as much as 40 in a day.  Some on vacation, some on a trail an hour or so away, and many trips to dinner or Starbucks and shopping, I keep thinking the amount of exercise Pat does over what she needs must count toward my score sheet but my pants (without elastic) keep getting tighter.

Computing is a good business, ask Reese.  Mostly I’ve been able to keep my customers happy this year, and think 10 is a good number until the economy turns or Vista gets popular whichever comes first, then I’ll look into adding help.

We have had three years without a major storm,  Aunt Betty (who we will miss very much) often spoke about 20+ years with little more than some strong wind and after the one year, nothing since.

When you are ready to travel south, we are ready to see you.  Ya’ll come.

Pat & Mike and Maxine.
